The Beauty of an Experience Design System, Polaris.
Franklin Templeton is a successful global investment company. The term Polaris is the name for the company's experience design system that will provide the infrastructure to support all future design decisions for the website. The few pages you see are the result of a year long hard work that covered many people, processes and technology.
My role: Digital product design, ux research and analysis, competitor research, visual/ui design, brand implementation.
Re-design of the U.S. pages first to improve overall experience and satisfaction of the site to better present the company as a leader in the investment sector.
"How do we prevent looking outdated before the new site launches?" The company has a very complex site that caters to institutional and retails investors. The original design, Apolo, created plenty of design debt. Different people and departments working on different parts created a disjointed look and experience.
The platform architecture, content and pain points were analyzed to make sure the future client journey includes tools and resources to quickly find the information they need.
Below is a sample from the Style Guide. All the components for the EDS with specs and interactive behavior were recorded for developer hand-off.
Issues that were addressed for templating:
Navigation: difficulty locating fund information and literature
Login issues and password reset
Too many clicks to accomplish most tasks
Our interpretation: the inconsistencies made it confusing for anyone to accomplish a task because each page and different situations looked and work differently. People are very busy and overwhelmed with so many tasks, this experience could potentially make them join another company.
